Our Cognitive Science Undergraduate advisors are happy to answer your questions about courses, major or minor planning, or Cognitive Science in general.

In-Person Advising

Effective starting Monday, March 16th, 2020 Cognitive Science Academic Advising will be switching to all online advising until otherwise notified.

In-person advising is not available at the moment.

Virtual Advising

Current Students:

To comply with CDC recommendations in response to COVID-19 and to support campus health, the Department of Cognitive Science will be offering the following methods of distance advising:

  • Virtual Advising Center (VAC) on TritonLink
  • Join the Zoom Walk-In Advising Waiting room at the following link: Zoom Room 1, Zoom Room 2.
    • Links will only be valid while Walk-Ins are available.
    • Walk-In Advising Hours:
      • Monday-Wednesday, Friday
        • 8:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
        • 1:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
      • Thursday
        • 10:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
        • 1:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

UCSD Students should be sending academic advising questions through the VAC, not through email.

If you are a UCSD Student using cogsadvising@ucsd.edu to submit forms or otherwise, please email from your @ucsd.edu email and include your PID in the email itself.

Petition Form

To file a petition with the Cognitive Science department, please fill out the online undergraduate petition form, using your UCSD email address. The department receives your petition form automatically once it has been completed. Petitions can take up to 8 weeks to be reviewed by our faculty comittee, and we will notify you on VAC. Approval is not guaranteed.

 

COGS Course Pre-Authorization, Prerequisite Waiving, and Special Studies Requests

All COGS course pre-authorizations, prerequisite override, and special studies requests must be made through the UC San Diego Enrollment Authorization System (EASy).
